Simla House is as far removed from ’10 Janpath’ as Old Kolkata is from New Delhi. The two-storied, decaying mansion, which was the residence of Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee, the first president of the Indian National Congress, stands in striking contrast to the sprawling and chic bungalow that houses his present-day successor, Sonia Gandhi.
