The Confluence of Cultures is turning out to be quite a walk. Fascinating to the core. Imagine encountering the cultures of the Anglo-Indians, the Parsis, the Jews, the Chinese, the Armenians, the Marwaris, the Biharis, the Muslims, and the Jains…..plus some sub-sects. Its turning out to be quite an overwhelming experience. Recently, a famous travel writer from London, Ms Ann Scott, went on this walk and gave it a thumbs-up at the end. Hopefully, with time, this walk can get to be as popular as the Dalhousie Square Walk. While the Dalhousie square walk is more about buildings and colonial history, this one is going to be more about the finer aspects of the various cultures and will try to interact with atleast one representative from each community.
And the best part is to end at the amazing atmosphere of the Nakhoda Mosque and its environs. Certainly a show stealer.
P.S. Calcutta Walks though is still looking for some very good Explorers. Explosive demand and very little supply. Gotta augment capacity at the earliest. Interested persons must contact calcuttawalks@gmail.com and check out if they fit the bill.
Sounds like great stuff, folks.
I’ll definitely go on one of your walks if I am ever in Cal.
