Offbeat Tours

We never intended to do more than mere walks, as is evident from our company logo, but our guests, restless as they are, kept pushing us to try newer and more innovative things to do in and around the city. So, here's what we've done so far.

Graveyard Tours
Dalhousie SquareGraveyard Tourism is something ideally suited to a city like Calcutta, which incidentally, the rest of India refers to as the 'Dead City'. The British, when they first came in had to deal with extreme inhospitable conditions leading to a huge number of deaths. In fact, every year just after the monsoons there used to be a big feast for the survivors.

Such a huge number of Europeans dying made way for a large number of cemeteries so much so that Park Street came to be known as the 'Burial Ground Road' and graveyards besides the British like the Scottish, Armenian, Jewish, Greek, Chinese and also the War cemetery among others came up.

Approach us with some basic information regarding your ancestry, we shall work towards tracing the graves, if they're still intact, or at least find as much as possible about the individual and his Calcutta connection. This is not limited to just finding the grave but goes onto mentally recreating the life and the times of the departed soul.

Weavers' Village Tours
SovabazarThe villages of Bengal has always been famous for its fine muslin cloth as well as its various hand-woven patterns. Though suppressed by the British, this ancestral occupation has been revived after Independence and continues to thrive and produce superb fabric in its own unique weaving style. Join us on an exploration of one or more of the mesmerizing Bengal villages where each house clanks with the sound of the jacquard where each person is busy in some act of cloth weaving.

Santiniketan
ShantiniketanVisit Tagore's beautiful Utopia, where the grand old man had sought to, and greatly succeeded in, building an open air university town which was aptly dubbed as "the abode of peace". We take you on a day trip to this beautiful town taking in the fairs, the university grounds itself, the art of the place and the amazing variety of people that call it home. We visit the homes of some people who've given up everyday lives to become part of the beauty and the timelessness of Santiniketan.

Bengali Cooking Lessons
Bengali Cooking LessonsBengal is a foodie's paradise and more so Calcutta, where various adventurers have left their gastronomical imprints. We take you through an experience not easy to forget...especially because of the satiating burps afterwards. A walk through the market will familiarize you with the ingredients that go into the making of some of authentic Bengali food and we follow that up with cooking demonstration by either a regular housewife or by the owners of the finest restaurants of the city. Always followed by authentic Bengali sweets - a good enough reason to be on this tour. :-)

CITY TOURS

Though we love to walk around the city with anyone interested when they have the time, we have an alternative for those who do not - City Tours.
Besides the regular Half Day and Full Day city tours, we also have customised coach and car tours along various themes.

RIVER CRUISE

Our river is the Hooghly, a tributary of the Ganges. And if it weren't for that test flight at Kitty Hawk, you probably would've sailed down this waterway to our city. Take a breather and join us on a river cruise.
