Dalhousie — Our First Pro Walk!

We’ve been walking for a long time now, round and round the same trails, from different approaches, down different routes, with differing perspectives. And we finally went ahead and showed our first guests what we found. Here’s a pic of our first pro Dalhousie Walk. It was conducted by Ifte. (Click to enlarge.)

The Kiwis that he took on this walk really enjoyed themselves – the high point of the walk being when they talked about the Black Hole and how every dark corner in their part of the world was referred to as ‘the Black Hole of Calcutta’. It’s really amazing how the British managed to work this myth into an effective PR tool to justify their existence in this part of the world, ponders Ifte.

Well, that’s just how colonialism works, we conclude.

  1. It has been such a pleasant surprise to discover this site and to learn about your group and your activity, your love and passion about our city. I live in Auckland though was raised in Calcutta – which I passionately love. I wish to catch up with you people the next time I am in Cal. Keep up the good work.

  2. Amyth — Thanks, Amyth. We’ve certainly received amazingly positive response from all our walkers so far, we’re happy to say. Perhaps you’ll join us some time?

Amit Ohdedar — Thanks. We’ll be looking forward to meeting you for sure. And we’ll challenge ourselves to show you stuff you don’t already know, ok? 🙂
